Headquartered in Los Gatos, California, Breast Imaging Specialists has lead the way in bringing advanced technology and better diagnostic techniques to woman’s health.  Tomosynthesis or 3D mammography is a relatively new breast imaging modality which will likely replace traditional (digital) mammography due to its’ increased detection rates and superior performance when compared to regular 2D mammography.  The June 2014 Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) summarized the increased detection rates seen in multicenter center study which involved Harvard (The Massachusetts General Hospital) and the University of Pennsylvania.  The study showed a remarkable increase in invasive cancer detection of 41% using tomosynthesis.  The detection rate increase for Breast Imaging Specialists in the same category is 100% (59% increase over the other large scale institutions in the JAMA study which is being presented at the international meeting of radiologists, The Radiological Society of North America in November, 2014).
